Bruise coloured skies
holding our nightly dose of stars,
make it an evening
by sounding you glass with touch of mine,
we’re toasting ourselves again
for we have survived another day,
with dwindling illusions
that we are immune and can’t decay

But in this twilight hour of swollen promises
no harm can reach us that will last till the morning

We’re sharing our stories,
laughing at all with no offence,
tales of misfortune
render a smile though hindsight’s lens

But as we gather tales on tongues grown looser
we unaware are writing the next chapter
